Generally speaking, I'm not really into grown women dressing like little kids (especially if they HAVE little girls). I cringe when I see a 30- or 40-something woman rockin' a Strawberry Shortcake t-shirt or tucking flower-studded barrettes in her hair. BUT, like most women, I reserve the right to make exceptions to the rule whenever I damn well please ;)
So, with that disclaimer, I gotta admit that I'm digging some of the items in the Barbie by Patricia Field collection. Most of the line skews too young (hey, IS a juniors' line), but there are a couple of gems for us older gals in there. The black crocodile satchel is polished enough to work with most outfits, and the gold leaf Barbie logo adds a funky twist -- and kudos to Ms. Fields for sticking with the portrait silhouette and never once fully illustrating her, keeping Barbie somewhat ethnically ambiguous -- though, truth be told, we all know she's white...Maybe it's time to bring in the troops a.k.a. the Black Barbie and Hispanic Barbie issued in 1971 (did they even have names? dag!).. Anyway, I digress -- peep the bag and the 100%-cotton, black-and-white tapestry hoodie (if you stare really closely at the print, you can get hypnotized... its' kind of like a lava lamp in that way). Both are adorable and "grown woman" appropriate. There, I said it.
