To commemorate 55DSL's 15th anniversary, the streetwear brand joined forces with Atom Plastic and Vasava to produce a limited run of 1,555 pieces of this 22-inch vinyl figure, dubbed Senor Blanco. The collectible toy was first unveiled in April during the Coachella Music Festival, but it wasn't released until the fall (apparently, Senor Blanco spent the summer months doing some serious globe-trotting and partying like a rockstar).
I love the figure's sloppy pudginess (note how his graphic tee rides up, revealing his tattooed, beer belly). And, while the Skeletor-like features would normally render the toy a bit frightening, his red, Sally Jesse Raphael-esque shades add a sense of whimsy, as does his pigeon-toed stance. Even the Band-Aid on his forehead looks pretty badass — and this coming from someone who has had a distaste for these adhesive strips since a bunch of Nelly clones started poppin' up, rockin' Band-Aids on their cheeks.
And did I mention that Senor Blanco's graphic tee is so hip that any adult would want to buy one in his own size?
