I'll admit: I've never watched MTV's "The City" — mainly because I'm nauseated by the mere idea of wasting time on yet another scripted, so-called reality TV show about pampered, self-important, princess-y girls. I mean, why are they famous again? I'm good on all of that nonsense. I mean, all the celebrity worship in our society is eerie enough, but revering people simply because they appeared on TV (and not because they possess any artistic, musical, culinary, acting, or literary talent) just bewilders me. Nevertheless, even I have to admit that when I've seen photos of Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo disseminated in the media, I've generally been pleased with their fashion sensibilities (I'm not sure whether to credit them or their stylists and handlers, not to mention all the companies drowning them in swag, but hey).
Perfect example: in the latest episode, Port apparently wore the Yoanna Baraschi X-Ray Rock Galaxy dress pictured above. The acid green, short-sleeved dress features an elaborate, multi-colored sequin design that's bold enough to reference a flashy, '70s-esque, disco-meets-rock-'n-roll aesthetic while also possessing a tropical vibe (note how the pattern created by the sequins is reminiscent of a colorful parrot perched atop a tree branch ).
It's not a dress for the timid but, if you've got an adventurous style sense, the X-Ray Rock Galaxy dress is, well, out of this world.
