It's tough enough to find facial towelettes that effectively remove even the toughest makeup and leave your skin feeling refreshed and clean, but to find suitable, travel-friendly wipes that contain all-natural ingredients can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. Fortunately, Korres conquered that realm with its Pomegranate Cleansing & Makeup Removing Wipes, a set of 25 wipes featuring pomegranate extract and vitamin E, both of which provide antioxidant protection. Though they're billed as being best-suited for normal-to-oily skin, I found the Pomegranate Cleansing & Makeup Removing Wipes gentle and moisturizing enough for my dry and often sensitive skin. But still, I was beyond excited when I heard that Korres had released a new set of towelettes geared towards women with normal-to-dry skin: the Milk Proteins Cleansing & Makeup Removing Wipes.
The paraben-, phtalate-, sulfate-, and petrochemical-free wipes feature softening and moisturizing lactose and whey proteins, a 5% solution of lactose in water that is rich in amino acids and believed to contain both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Other ingredients include soothing aloe extract, moisturizing glycerin, conditioning panthenol, antioxidant-rich vitamin E, and skin calming vitamin B5.
Unfortunately, the Milk Proteins Cleansing & Makeup Removing Wipes aren't as packed with moisture as the Pomegranate Cleansing & Makeup Removing Wipes, which means they don't remove makeup as effectively. I found that, in order to really eliminate all traces of makeup from my skin, I had to use two and three wipes, as opposed to with the pomegranate wipes, where one towelette sufficed to do the trick.
I was also a bit disappointed that each towelette felt so dry — it almost felt like a paper towel that had been sprinkled with a watery elixir, as opposed to a truly damp, moisture-packed wipe. Because they were a bit emaciated moisture-wise, the wipes themselves felt a bit abrasive against the skin. Given how gentle and non-drying the ingredients, it's ironic that the material with which the wipes are made would have such a harsh texture. Hopefully, Korres will make a few tweaks to this product since its potential is vast.
