Back in April, I let you gals know about Out of Print Clothing, a line of graphic tees and sweatshirts featuring the original illustrations showcased on the covers of classic works of literature. For the holidays, fans of Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy's love affair can indulge their bibliophile ways with this new burgundy "Pride and Prejudice" sweatshirt, which features the novel's original book art, designed by Hugh Thomson (who also illustrated Austen's Sense and Sensibility).
The sweatshirt features a cut-out scoopneck with a raw hem, which falls off the shoulders for a Flashdance feel, adding a naughty sexiness to the 18th century motif. The piece's distressed finish lends it a vintage quality that works well with the digging-in-the-archives mission behind the Out of Print brand. And, of course, there's the gorgeous illustration itself, which features a peacock with a tail that bursts outward like an explosion of fireworks.
Now, there's something to be proud of!
