Yesterday, we gave you a primer on some of the hottest events going down in NYC this Thursday, when the entire city will bustle thanks to the massive shop crawl known as Fashion's Night Out. From performances by acrobats, singers, and contortionists to makeup applications, mini manicures, facials, massages, and special film screenings, participating vendors are pulling out all the stops to lure customers and show their appreciation.
Now, we've gotten the scoop on even more great events, during which you can get a tarot card reading, meet in-demand supermodels, munch on vegan cupcakes, get a new tattoo, style a runway-ready ensemble, star in your own photo shoot, and even make a candy-covered heel. Check out the details below!
Meet Lancôme spokesmodel Arlenis Sosa at Macy's and get a "Doll Lash" Makeover
Lancôme is hosting special events at Sephora Times Square, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Macy's, but we're most excited about the Macy's festivities since Dominican supermodel Arlenis Sosa, Oscar de la Renta's muse and one of the faces of the Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lashes campaign, will be on hand to greet customers and oversee the "doll lash" makeovers given by the expert makeup artists. From 6-8 p.m., head over to Herald Square for a dollsultation!
Join fashion blogger the Glamourai at Mackage and style a rockin' outfit for a chance to win all the garments in that look
Think you're a style maven? See if you've got the skills to pay the bills (or, at least, to score you a new outfit) on Fashion's Night Out. Venture to the Mackage store in Soho (123 Mercer Street at Prince Street) between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. and style a head-to-toe Mackage look, meet fashion blogger The Glamourai as she doles out style advice, then pose in the Mackage style booth, and upload your photos to Facebook. The guest with the most impressive ensemble will have a chance to win that look! And, of course, there will be cocktails courtesy of Me Oko Vodka and limited-edition Mackage FNO products on sale.
Embark on an aromatic journey with Molton Brown's Navigations Through Scent collection, then travel to the future with a tarot card reading
The debut fragrance collection from Molton Brown, Navigations Through Scent, hits Saks Fifth Avenue counters during Fashion's Night Out. Each unisex scent in this quintet was inspired by key stops in the ancient spice route: Indonesia, China, Egypt, England (where they were shipped to merchants in various colonies), and Canada (which represents the New World's acquisition of prized spices like pepper, ginger, sandalwood).
To toast the fragrance collection's launch, Molton Brown has invited tarot card reader Mystic Michelle to offer customers a glimpse into their future. Those who receive a card reading will also be treated to a sample from Molton Brown's Body Essentials core collection, and those who consult Mystic Michelle and spend $140 or more will receive a Fine Fragrance sample gift set while supplies last.
Make your own candy-covered Rockport pums at Dylan's Candy Bar
Nineteen RISD fashion students have created their very own candy-coated Rockport shoe designs, all of which will be on display at iconic sweets emporium Dylan's Candy Bar (1101 Third Avenue at 60th Street) on Fashion's Night Out. During the "May Each Step You Take Be Sweet" event, happening between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., the contest winner will be crowned by a panel of judges that includes store owner Dylan Lauren and Rockport style ambassador Annabel Tollman.
Guests can also browse through a selection of Rockport Fall 2011 footwear styles with limited-edition Dylan's Candy Bar footbeds. The best part: you can indulge your sweet tooth and summon your inner designer by making your very own candy-covered shoes.
Nibble on vegan cupcakes, get inked up, receive a facial and shop for Scosha jewelry
Don't think all the Fashion's Night Out festivities are limited to the borough of Manhattan! If you're in the Brooklyn area, stop by the Scosha store (64 Grand Street in Williamsburg) between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. and shop their funky jewelry while nibbling on vegan cupcakes and cookies from Heaven Scent Baking. All guests will score a voucher for a Solerno Blood Liquor cocktails at Aurora (located next door at 70 Grand Street), and early birds can sip on coffee or nibble on frozen yogurt from the Joyride truck, which will be parked in front of the boutique all day long. The special FNO retreat also includes such treats as facials by holistic line Dr. Alkaitis, holistic therapy session from the Five Senses team, and tattoos from The Copper Beehive (available on a first come, first serve basis).
The first 40 shoppers will receive gift bags filled with Pretty Monsters tattoo and skin balms, Dr. Alkaitis skincare products, sweets, and a free Scosha bracelet. If you spend $150 or more at the event, you'll automatically receive the Peace Earrings pictured here while, if you spend $500 or more, you'll get the 14k yellow gold Horseshoe earrings and the Wishbone studs shown above.
Get dolled up and have Smashbox co-founder Davis Factor snap your photo at Sephora Fifth Avenue
Have you ever wondered why so many Smashbox Cosmetics products include terms like "Photo Op" or "Photo Finish"? Well, it may have something to do with the fact that co-founder Davis Factor is a professional photographer who has snapped portraits of Hollywood icons like Robert Downey Jr., Salma Hayek, Jude Law, and Julianne Moore, as well as on-the-rise starlets like Blake Lively. From 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on September 8th, you can get the celebrity treatment at Sephora Fifth Avenue (97 Fifth Avenue). First, have a makeup artist get you camera-ready with a Smashbox makeover and then get ready for your close-up and pose for a professional photo by Davis Factor himself.
